Winchester Hospital’s A Caring Place Receives $3,000 Donation

Winchester Hospital is pleased to announce that Nancy Colella and Mary Ellen Taylor, of Pink Ribbon Benefits, recently donated $3,000 to Winchester Hospital’s A Caring Place. Pink Ribbon Benefits raised these funds through its 2nd Annual Cruise for a Cure, which was held on September 7, 2007.

Committed to supporting women with breast cancer, Nancy and Mary Ellen started Pink Ribbon Benefits, a nonprofit organization, in 2005. Cruise for a Cure, a three-hour cruise on Boston Harbor, is the organization’s annual fundraising event, which is growing each year. Local musicians, Full Circle Band, donated entertainment for the Cruise.

The first Cruise for a Cure, held in September 2006, raised $7,600 for breast cancer research. This year, the Cruise was attended by over 325 people and raised $13,000. Funds from last year as well as $10,000 of this year’s event were donated to Dana Farber Cancer Institute for research purposes. In addition, $3,000 of this year’s funds was donated to A Caring Place because Nancy and Mary Ellen, both residents of Wilmington, wanted to give back to the community and support local women battling breast cancer. Pink Ribbon Benefits also gave Red Sox tickets to one of Winchester Hospital’s breast cancer patients to allow her to have a fun night out.
